Day Twenty-Nine:

50047 / 95000 words. 53% done!

Taking a day off

Mainly because I feel like it. I've been running around doing SOMETHING for most of this holiday weekend, either shopping, cooking, or writing, and I achieved the Nanowrimo goal as of 3:15 AM this morning, so screw it. Today is some very necessary down time in order to recharge the creative batteries.

So I pulled out the shawl that I've been working on for *mumble* months for Stacy, popped the BBC miniseries of Sense and Sensibility into the DVD player, and finished another segment while I reveled in the moody fencing gorgeousness that is David Morrissey, yum. Hey, sometimes, you just need to do some handwork while watching someone smoulder his way through a Jane Austen story.

I was supposed to put the Christmas lights on the bushes, as well, but Fate needs a laugh as much as anyone and sent some decidedly foul weather as of this morning -- the warm temps from midnight disappeared, replaced with a cold norther and on-and-off rain. So much for that. I also tried to get a Christmas tree (we pitched the old one when we moved -- needless to say we didn't put on up last year), and promptly ran into the Black Friday conundrum -- all the good stuff got sold earlier over the weekend. Home Depot only had these "slim" trees that were pre-lit (I want to use LED lights this year), and I drove around Target's parking lot for a solid five minutes looking for a parking space before deciding, "Fuck this." The fact that my ovaries were trying to punch their way out may have had a hand in my decision, I dunno. Maybe I'll try getting to sleep early tonight, getting in and out of work early tomorrow and get the bush lights put up before dusk hits, I dunno. As for the tree, I'll pop a Midol before braving Target again. Whee.
