Bad poster -- no new keyboard
Sorry about that, folks -- what with the run-up to the holiday and all, I've been a slacker about updating on a daily basis (Turkey Day was delayed to today due to various events, but it went splendidly nonetheless and we have a refrigerator full of leftovers which we've both been happily trawling through, thank you very much).
But fear not -- that doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping up with my word count, as you can see at right. In fact, I've finally figured out the events that are building up to the climax, and I'm using today and tomorrow to hammer out the bulk of them because, ahem, I need to step it up a notch as my total goal word count is 95K and I want to achieve this by 12/18 (trust me, I have my reasons). Which means I have another 45K ahead of me which needs to be finished in 20 days instead of 30, which means I need to start chunking out 2500 words a day ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
I can do it, right? Let me hear you, people -- I CAN DO IT.
Black Friday -- not as bad as I feared
In other news, Episode 91 of Don't Quit Your Day Job is up. Since I'm the producer of DQYDJ and I just upgraded both the laptop and desktop to Snow Leopard, I decided to go whole hog and pick up a copy of iLife '09 from the Apple Store at Willow Brook Mall so that I could get the latest version of Garage Band with all the nifty new bells and whistles.
Yes, I know it's Black Friday, but it was also afternoon by this time, so I figured the real crazies had already returned home by now with their spoils. As it turned out the parking lot was pretty well packed, but the Cyber Gods were with me and I found a spot within easy walking distance of the door. Upon entering the maelstrom, I was pleasantly surprised -- the mall was indubitably packed, but not elbow to elbow. I think it took me a total of two minutes tops to walk into the Apple Store, find iLife, snag a clerk who had that nifty handheld payment device, tender my credit card, take my receipt and get the hell out of Dodge. Even had time to stop off at Crabtree and Evelyn and score some Aloe Vera soap, huzzah!
I want to knit
Dammit. I know I have work to do on the novel and a word count to achieve, but right now I really just want to sit down somewhere with two sticks and some yarn and knit.
And yes, I know -- hold it out as a carrot. I plan to -- it's just that right now, I really, really, REALLY want to knit. Dammit.
