VETERAN'S DAY

A shoutout to our armed forces

Thank you for your service. It's truly appreciated, especially by this Marine's daughter.

Day Eleven:

18381 / 50000 words. 37% done!

Meanwhile, back at the laptop...

I'm closing in on 20K, Poe has reluctantly agreed that yeah, he does need Dodgson's help after he wanders into the tough part of Oxford and almost gets his ass kicked by a gang of ruffians, not one but two possible murder suspects have turned up (with a third on the way), and poor Jane was pregnant. Was she killed so that the father wouldn't have to deal with an illegitimate child, or because someone couldn't stand to have her carry another man's baby? And why dump her in Poe's room, then challenge him to find the killer?

Hey, don't look at me -- I'm still trying to work the finer details of this out. And Jane's little sister Maggie is turning out to be quite the young lady -- smart, desperate to find out who killed her sister, and willing to recruit Poe and Dodgson to her cause. Needless to say, Poe and Dodgson are somewhat bemused, but also charmed by this spirited 13-year-old (well, hey, we all know their track records with pretty, smart young girls). And man, things are going to get messy from here on in, you just know it.

And since I actually finished my quota before 1:00 AM for once, this writer is hitting the sack early. Night, all.
