Day Three:

5002 / 50000 words. 10% done!

And the plot thickens

MMM is chugging along on schedule and I'm starting to hear Poe and Dodgson in my head, which is always a good sign that I've nailed the characters (and yeah, Poe sounds like Jeffrey, but why does Dodgson sound like James MacAvoy? I swear, my subconscious is an odd and swampy place...). I'm also doing my usual trick of jumping around in the story writing scenes that appeal to me (this is why I work out a outline ahead of time, by the way), and almost cackled with glee when I wrote a scene that will take place very close to the end and explains something that happens at the beginning. Plus it's heartwarming as all hell. When you know you've written something that's just right, it tickles you to pieces, it really does.

Other than that, not a whole hell of a lot to report from the clavicle of Texas. I did hit Hobby Lobby and picked up the shadow box for the Poe Nose, which is currently being deflattened in preparation for mounting (I also took the opportunity to slap on the magnifier hat thingy and study how the makeup man stippled the latex with what looks like yellow and red pigment -- hey, you never know when that sort of info can come in handy), and grabbed some stuff to make a miniature electrified candlestick that a friend requested after seeing the one in the NEVERMORE box. Um, and I worked out. And watched my imaginary geek boyfriend school Leonard and Howard in the intricacies of football in "The Cornhusker Vortex."

Okay, so I don't really have a life. I need to go back to LA. Or Chicago. Or Florida, to be honest. Hell, I think I'd be happy with Austin right about now.
