Well, that was fun
Not.
As you know (Bob), we here in North Dallas enjoyed an ice storm yesterday evening. This morning it was still slick as heck out there, but by noon things were starting to melt enough that I felt comfortable going into work. And indeed I assumed that most of the ice out there had successfully melted by the time the sun went down and the temps dropped below freezing again.
I discovered differently when I gathered up the garbage a few minutes ago and headed to the back gate, whereupon I planned to make my way down the garage drive and to the garbage bins. Except that as I stepped out the gate I realized two very important things:
1) The side of the garage drive next to the gate was sheeted in ice.
2) I had just stepped onto it, and was starting to slide.
I honestly have no idea how I corrected, but somehow I found myself spun around so that I was now facing the garage door, still clinging to the garbage bag with my right hand and the fence with my left. Moving VERY gingerly, I inched my way back to the gate and stepped back onto non-iced patio pebbling.
Whee! And now, I need a small but very necessary drink.
