Sunday in the Home Depot with Melanie
About two weeks ago, Lyndon asked me if it would be all right for him to find someone to finish the bathroom floor, as I've gotten swamped in work and we'd both like to have our master bath back.
My response was, "Yes, please." And so the Bodacious Brit took the bull by the horns and rounded up a floor guy who gave us a reasonable estimate. His guys (six of them at one point) came out on Wednesday, put down the backerboard and laid all the tile. They finished grouting the tile on Friday, and it looks utterly lovely -- creamy white tiles with very pale beige and grey streaks, and an alabaster grout. Complements the Agean blue paint perfectly and lights up the bathroom like you wouldn't believe.
Today we're doing the final steps -- adding tile coping to replace the baseboards and sealing the grout. The floor guy's guys (say that three times fast) would've done the coping, too, but as it turned out the matching 3" x 13" coping tile that the tile maker offers is only provided in huge batches to professional installers. So today we're going to hit a couple of tile stores and see what we can find ourselves, then pick up a new toilet and fixtures. By this time next week we should have a fully functional master bath -- huzzah!
Iiiiiinteresting...
I just had my first flying dream in about 15 years. Wound up taking off from some sort of medical conference, flew to Paris and stopped off for a pastry while shocking the tourists, got kinda confused about up and down (and realized that I just needed to stop, hang there in midair and figure out where the stars were), and decided to see if I could fly to the top of Everest.
Turns out I could. I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something.
