I'm done

No, seriously. I'm burnt to a crispy crunch. Basta. Finis. Please, sir, I don't want any more.

One month ago today, I found out that my father was dying of lung cancer. Two weeks ago this morning he died. I wound up traveling every weekend in December as a result, dealt with a wake, funeral AND Christmas (with associated shopping crammed into December 20 and 23) in between the traveling, and after having a dilly of a time getting back to Dallas after Christmas I turned around and hosted my sister and her family for the bulk of this week. It was delightful, and I'm so very glad they came down because we had an immense amount of fun.

But. They are now back in Chicago, which is good because I am about to fall over from sheer bloody exhaustion due to being on point for 28 days. I'm taking tomorrow off, methinks. And possibly Sunday, if a day of enforced lassitude isn't enough.

The NYE holiday, however, was truly delightful, what with Stacy, Mike, Mikey, Meredith, Tony and Clara coming down to spend it with us. After I realized I was pretty much exhausted from the drive down, common sense took hold and I arranged for them to stay at a nice Residence Inn nearly (we did our best to get the public rooms ready, but the rest of the place simply wasn't ready for guests). I then had the pool heated so that Clara could swim to her heart's content, Tony worked his way through the Wall O' DVD, I took Mike, Mikey and Meredith down to the Sixth Floor Museum so that we could Commit History (and commit omnomnom at Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse afterwards. Well, there was no way we were climbing into rush hour traffic on NYE), and Stacy had a badly needed chance to kick back, relax and unwind.

And now, it's my turn to kick back and unwind, preferably with a frosty adult beverage at my side. Later, kiddlings.
