Yes, I voted

And In a precinct in one of the reddest counties in Texas, the line in front of the Democratic table was almost out the door at 1:30 PM. There was no line in front of the Republican table — granted, that might have had something to do with their possession of 4 voting booths as opposed to the Democrats’ 2 booths.

I asked one of the election judges about the Democratic turnout — his eyes twinkled as he said it had been absolutely tremendous. And from what CNN is currently reporting it now looks as if Clinton has taken Texas, with Obama possibly taking the caucus delegates. Frankly, I'm happy with either of them, and the close races make me think that other people feel the same way.

But let's move away from the Democratic candidates for a moment and take a look at some interesting numbers -- if you combine all of the Republican votes cast in Texas as of a few minutes ago (close to midnight), 1,240,676 people voted Republican (for the hell of it, I added in the Uncommitted Republican votes).

The current Democratic votes total 2,506,209. Over twice as many Democrats as Republicans came out and voted today. Numbers may change depending on the final candidates, of course, but one must wonder if there's now a strong possibility that Texas will turn blue this fall.

Somewhere, Lyndon Johnson is smiling.

In other news, we're running out of the Thin Mints Lyndon scored at a Kroger last week. We've been very good about them -- they're carefully rationed out, since Thin Mints straight out of the freezer are a gift from the gustatory Gods -- but even good things have to come to an end at some point.

There's a local Girl Scout in the complex who took an order from us about a month ago, but I haven't heard from her yet so either we have to wait until she gets her cookies and contacts us for the dropoff, or I need to find another young darling sitting outside a supermarket with boxes of thin minty crunchy chocolatey yummy c/r/a/c/k/ Thin Mints.

I can stop at any time, of course. But why would I want to?
