Oh, thank God this is a four-day week
Yeah,
I know -- I've been quiet. Between
the amount of work that's just landed on my desk at the Death Star, getting
Issue #9 of Helix SF up and loaded tonight, and finishing up some work
for a web client, I am seriously trashed and looking forward to the upcoming
three-day weekend. I may even pick up a hibachi grill somewhere so that
we can grill chicken breasts and hamburgers on the balcony.
It would also help if I wouldn't sabotage myself by staying up to read news and only getting four hours of sleep, but hey, that would be far too simple.
On a more amusing note, since the Tour de France starts this weekend I'm getting my quilting projects lined up (I still have beaucoup batiks and a trés nifty new pattern to try out) and I need to hit Hancock's and pick up four yards of my usual white backing fabric. Haven't really sewn in a couple of months -- this should be kinda fun.
Speaking of Helix SF
We
have a cracking good lineup this quarter, too (and I'm not just
saying that because my story "Lusts of the Cat Queen: A Dash Manning
Adventure" is
in it). We've got "The Bitrunners" by Tina Connolly, "Dead
Silent" by Leah Cypess, "The Mermaids' Tea Party" by Samantha
Henderson, "Break the Vessel" by Vylar Kaftan, "An Act of
Conviction" by Ruth Nestvold and "The Kennel Club" by Jennifer
Pelland, plus some very nifty poetry. Hella good lineup there.
And as always we have cracking good columns from Bud Webster and John Barnes, plus the ever-entertaining editorials by William Sanders and Lawrence Watt-Evans. Barnes' column is particularly educational for all the writers-to-be out there.
So what are you waiting for? Go, read, donate!
