Cautiously optimistic
Huh. As you know (Bob), my sleep cycle has been severely munged up since...well...for a long time, now. Since I'm not really that fond of developing holes in my long-term memory or being sick all the bloody time, I decided to try making a couple of lifestyle changes to see if it would help at all.
Today is Day Three of the Great Experiment, and I woke up from a somewhat broken sleep (which is partially my own fault -- I should NOT eat stir-fry with soy sauce and sweet Thai chili sauce before going to bed. All I can say is thank Cthulhu for Pepto-Bismol, even if it does turn your tongue brownish-black). BUT -- I also dreamed my ass off last night in very interesting ways. As a result, I'm somewhat tired but my brain's on straight for the first time in yonks and I actually feel like getting out there and doing stuff instead of having to force myself into action.
Which is nice because Lord, there's oodles to do -- writing to work on, a quilt to finish, the bedroom and bathroom to clean, laundry to wash, a client's website to complete, last year's receipts to go through and organize for the accountant so that when the W-4s arrive I can ship everything off ASAP, you get the idea. I probably won't get it all done today, but by God I intend to get a good running start.
But first, now that I know where it moved to, I'm off to have lunch at my favorite Mediterranean buffet. Gyros and tsatsiki and salad, oh my!
Awards Reminder
And
because it's my journal and if I don't do it who will, I just want to
remind all SFWA Active members and attending/supporting members of Denvention
and/or Nippon 2007 of the following:
- My short story "The
Padre, the Rabbi and the Devil His Own Self" (PDF available here)
is on the 2007
Nebula Preliminary Ballot. If it makes it to the final ballot,
I promise that I will wear something spectacularly cleavage-enhancing
and Lyndon will wear his formal kilt to the awards -- and yes, there
will be pictures! Help bring Bubba satire to the Nebulas!
- My novella Sabre Dance (Double Dog #4, Yard Dog Press, pub.
9/1/2007) is eligible for the Hugo Awards' Best Novella category. Same
promise for the outfits here.
- Helix SF is also eligible for the Hugos' Best Semiprozine category and William Sanders for the Best Editor, Short Form category. You know you want to vote for them.
