Ow ow ow

And fuckety-fuck OW for good measure.

I have done something interesting to my left hamstring just below where it enters the gluteus maximus, and it hurts like a screaming shrieking bitch, to the point where I'm actually up at 3:00 AM writing this entry because it hurts too much to sleep and I'm praying to God that the two Tylenol I just took have some effect because I don't really have time for another Vicodin Vacation.

The annoying thing is that I was feeling absolutely ducky today, so much so that when I got tired at 11:30 PM I thought, "Great -- I'll hit the hay, and get up bright and early Sunday morning so that I can clean out my office and get lots of stuff done, maybe even finish off the quilt."

That, of course, was before I woke up at 1:30 AM feeling like my upper rear thigh had been given a nice long going-over with 180 grit sandpaper. And I know full well I did this to myself by sitting at the sewing machine on a kitchen chair for 5-6 hours. You see, when I sew I don't sit back in the chair -- I lean forward, perched on the edge of the chair so that I have a better view of what's going on with my right leg extended and working the foot pedal, leaving my left thigh to take the bulk of the weight. Hard wooden chair edge applied for 5-6 hours directly to thigh -- you do the math.

*sigh* On the plus side, I do have almost half of the King Kong quilt done -- three more columns and the surrounding border plus binding, and I can send it off to Rob and Schuyler with a light heart. On the minus side, there's no way I'm going to be able to sit for any length of time tomorrow, so it looks like it will be resident on my sewing machine for a bit longer. Crap.

Hmm -- maybe I can pull out my office chair and see if that helps at all. Of course, getting said chair out of said office will be one hell of a trick -- man, I need to clean that disaster area. I wonder if it's possible to take a trick from Hercules' playbook and divert the Trinity through a bedroom of a second-floor apartment?

Okay, apart from that I don't have a damn thing to say about today other than I went back to Hancock's for some more thread for the quilt and wound up coming home with some more fabric DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT. It's a border for the nifty neato-keen 3-D sunflower quilt top that I bought a couple of years ago and has been pleading with me ever since to be finished into a lovely quilt. And once I had the border fabric (green fields with yellow daisies -- I wanted sunflowers but apparently they're out of style now) it was only appropriate to wash everything.

Although now that I think about it...the top would look so much better if I picked the sunflower squares apart and added a green lattice. More of a feature, you know, just to make the sunflowers pop more? And if I could find the sunflower fabric I bought when I first got to Texas, I could use that for the lattice junctures, and maybe border squares YES I'M A QUILTAHOLIC, I KNOW, I'M SORRY, ARRRGHHHHHH.

(But damn, it's so much fun.)
