Cold, damp and sleepy

The is one of those days -- damp, chilly, wintry without being crisp, springy without being sunny -- where you just want to curl up somewhere warm with a cup of hot chocolate and pull a cat over you until April or so.

Unles the cat decides to use you as a launch pad, of course, because he's sitting next to you, is startled by absolutely nothing and promptly leaps straight into the air. I thought that was something you only saw in cartoons. I also now have freely bleeding gouges on my left hand and right shoulder thanks to Jordan, and the idiot cat is crouched on the floor peering suspiciously at various patches of the carpet.

JJ, meanwhile is sitting on the ottoman giving Jordan a look that clearly says, "Dude, don't be an asshole." And I couldn't even shriek in pain because the last time I did something like that JJ went medieval on Jordan's ass and that's how he wound up on antidepressants in the first place. Although after today I'm starting to wonder if we have the wrong cat on drugs.

In other news, Zicam nasal gel actually seems to work. I woke up with an absolutely atrocious cold, body fluids streaming like the Amazon from my left nostril and eye, so I stuck some of the gel up there, took a decongestant and an antihistamine and went back to bed for a bit. When I woke up -- poof, gone daddy gone. So maybe zinc really does have some sort of a mitigating effect on colds.

Oh, and here's some more insanity my sister left on my guestbook.
