And it's off!
Episode 2 of DQYDJ: The Podcast is recorded, edited and released into the web wilderness. And dammit, I can't HELP what I dream. Don't look at me!
We also fixed the issue with each of us on a separate channel (there was a problem with the person calling in on Skype having a slight echo -- turns out that I had to set the input/output on Audio Hijack, Skype AND System Settings to my mike, which fixed the problem. And a very helpful pumpkin named Daniel Brewer suggested a tool called Levelator to balance out the sound levels, which we'll start using as of Episode 3.
Hey, it's all a learning experience. And seriously, if you haven't subscribed yet, why not?
And we already have good reviews in iTunes -- hurrah!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch
Yeah, okay, so I spent a grand total of 6.5 hours today just trying to get my safety test for the car, as it's due in April. As I wanted to get the car tuned up before the test, I figured it would take me a grand total of, oh, two hours. How Fate does love to mock me.
9:30 AM -- get up, go to local Goodyears for tuneup, front end alignment and safety inspection.
10:30 AM -- tune-up done, find out I don't have my insurance card ON me, cannot get safety inspection done at Goodyears. Grind teeth at own stupidity, ask them to go over the car and make sure it's ready for said inspection.
11:30 AM -- Pay close to $200 bucks, get my car back. Admittedly, it's running better and the front end no longer pulls to the right.
12:00 PM -- go back to house, look through the insurance file, find this year's card for both myself and the Bodacious Brit. Stick my insurance card in my glove compartment, leave BB's insurance card on seat so that I can run over to the office and put it in his truck, or barring that stick it directly in his truck when he gets home. Run out to get a fast lunch at pho place.
1:15 PM -- go to standard safety inspection place. Wait for them to pass my car.
2:00 PM -- My car fails the safety inspection -- one of my tail lights is burnt out. Why Goodyear did not notice this when they did their safety check is anyone's guess. Attendant suggests I go down to Firestone place on the same street and have them replace the light bulb.
2:30 -- Some kerfluffle at Firestone, as they are jampacked and have no empty slots. I thank them and head out to my car, when the manager comes running after me -- he'll replace the bulb himself. I sit and mutter under my breath about Goodyear, then pay $17 for the bulb plus labor.
3:00 PM -- I go BACK to the safety inspection place, which then passes my car and puts the little sticker in my windshield.
3:30 PM -- stop off at Kroger, as we are out of pretty much everything.
So that was my day. And now, I need a margarita.
In other news
We have been experiencing some king hell windstorms here in the clavicle of Texas, to the point where I've been hesitant to go out and do my walk for fear of winding up in Oz. I'm not shitting you -- when you keep hearing roofcaps go BANG and the wind is almost strong enough to lean on, that's some serious stuff. Not to mention the house roofs in the area are looking more and more mangy (roofers must be raking it in), and there are a number of fences around here that are down or on the way there.
The one good thing is that it's been pretty much clear, so it's just wind rather than wind, rain and tornados. Still, if the wind keeps up like this as it gets warmer, things are going to get interesting for stormspotters, not to mention, well, us.
