Last week of vacation

Of course, the nice thing is that I'm actually looking forward to getting back to work, so it's not as if I'm clawing at the furniture and bewailing the end of my free time. Besides, having income and dental insurance again will be absolutely lovely -- once I pay off the credit card, I can dob money away for my Invisaligns.

Of course, I don't know what JJ is going to do when I'm not around during the day -- I think he's gotten used to me being here, and I'm sort of worried he'll start in again with the heavy belly overgrooming if he thinks he's been abandoned. Well, as soon as we get a house he'll have a back yard where he can roam around, pee on bushes and be the Great Black Hunter to his heart's delight -- hopefully that will offset any hurt feelings.

And I thought having a cat would be simple. Hahahahaha...

A podcaster's first steps

Hurrah! We've gotten some good feedback on DQYDJ: The Podcast, and I've even set up an email (dqydjpodcast@gmail.com) and listener line at 206-666-4187 so people can write us or call in and leave us voicemails.

Not that I'm hinting or anything. Ahem.

Next step -- buy the dqydjpodcast.com domain and set up a redirect to the website, then set up groups on MySpace and Facebook. Next ep will be recorded on Wednesday, so if anyone likes listening to irreverent podcasts with a heavy genre media aspect, you know where to go.

*pinches bridge of nose, sighs*

The Bodacious Brit has done it to me again. As you know, Bob, I recently purchased the new BBC version of Sense and Sensibility. BB has seen snatches of it while wandering through the living room, and has heard me warbling on about the beauteousness that is David Morrissey. This has spurred some comments about Jane Austen and various modern remakes (Clueless, Bridget Jones' Diary), because those are the kinds of conversations we have in the Fletcher manse.

And then, while wandering past the couch, he murmured that it would be interesting if someone could take Sense and Sensibility and turn it into space opera.

I blinked...

And thought about it...

And then opened Word to jot down some notes...

As it turns out...you can map S&S to space opera, rather neatly. Oh, dear...
