Yes, we're still here

And we lucked out, relatively. I just walked around the complex with my camera; there are at least seven downed trees in the complex, one almost covering the complex playground, a number of broken windows and badly dented windowframes and doors, deshingled spots on various roofs, a slew of cap-less chimneys, and one of the flagpoles at the complex's main intersection is now almost parallel with the ground.

However, my building only has one small deshingled section, and although something (most likely flying shingles) hit right above the window next to our couch, all it did to the window proper was tear the screen. Considering that the complex will have lots to repair in the near future, I may well pick up some screening and fix that myself tomorrow.

Elsewhere in the clavicle, 18-wheelers and vans have been overturned by the hurricane-speed winds, roofs were ripped off, metal carports have been bent in half and brought down on rows of cars (this actually happened in the apartment complex across from us), and according to the Bodacious Brit a utility pole came down smack in the middle of Parker and Custer, which played merry hell with this morning's commute. Compared to that, we got off lightly.

I suspect I have done something interesting to my toe

Specifically the toe next to the big toe on my left foot. More specifically, it doesn't want to straighten out completely, and when I put weight on it it complains. Loudly.

I suspect I have done something to the first joint joining the tarsal and metatarsal. I don't think it's broken -- it's not lumpy/swollen/discolored and while it hurts it CAN support my weight -- but a sprain is certainly possible, And it made today's walk more than a little difficult, to the point where I had to sit down for a bit on a little stone wall and rest the foot.

So now I have a sore Achilles bursa on the right foot and a painful toe on the left foot. Have I mentioned recently that getting old sucks? Bleah...
