Auntie Em, Auntie Em!
I
went out for my evening walk, like I do, and walked straight into the
teeth of one bitching wind mixed with oh dear God amounts of humidity.
To clarify, we have a tornado watch for the clavicle of Texas until 6:00 AM tomorrow morning, after a first wave of meteorological ick that thoroughly drenched us earlier in the evening, and I keep checking Weather Underground's radar and watching this very, very large and increasingly nasty wall of weather sweep towards me.
Have I mentioned that I live in a second-story apartment? If my complex ever gets hit by a funnel cloud, we're totally and utterly screwed.
But I got my 40 minutes in, dammit, so take THAT, rain gods!
4:00
AM -- well, that's new
I've never seen blue and green lightning before.
Yes, we've just had a mighty wind blow through darkest northern Plano, although judging from NOAA we missed the brunt of it -- southwest Collin County, which includes southern Plano and Richardson, had the bulk of the flashy lights, not to menion a developing tornado pass through. I'm just hoping it didn't touch down. Lee, hope you and George are all right.
So far, I can see two downed trees in the complex, right along the fence on McDermott, and there may be another one in a courtyard south of my building. There's definitely been roof damage -- I can see big chunks of shingling scattered across the road. I'm going to stay up a little while more, just to make sure nothing else is on the way.
Springtime in Texas -- gotta love it.
