The Quilting Fairy has struck again!

In coming across a commercial for the Dallas Auto Show yesterday, I remembered the other event that usually happens at the same time -- the Dallas Quilt Celebration (aka quilter's heaven). And by Crom, it was indeed this weekend, and there was much rejoicing in the Fletcher manse (yeahhhhh).

After dropping Lyndon's truck off for some maintenance repairs, I bopped down to the Dallas Market Hall and reveled in goooooooooorgeous fabrics, stunning quilts and all kinds of booths selling quilting accessories. Every time I've gone to the Celebration, I've gotten some great ideas for quilts, and this time was no different -- a pregnant friend is going to be induced on the 24th, and while strolling past a booth I fell in love with this incredible print line by Laurel Burch called "Ocean Songs."

As a result I now have two yards each of the Ocean Songs Mermaids and Ocean Songs Seahorses patterns in teal, plus an incredible selection of batiks that will be used to coordinate the main fabric. I think I'm going to fussy cut the mermaids in 6" squares, then use those as the basis for a modified Monkey Wrench square, with the seahorse fabric used as sashing -- the final result will be called "Mermaid Dreams" (I always name my quilts -- it's easier to keep track of them that way). With any luck it can be in the new mom's hands only a day or two after her new daughter lands there.
