Ah, the joys of dialogue recording

But at least I'm doing it in my own office with the door closed.

In my new place of employment, I'm taking some very basic demos of computer applications recorded in Adobe Captivate and making them suitable (in my opinion) for public viewing -- tightening up transition times, keeping text boxes consistent, cleaning up mouse stutter, that sort of thing.

One of the trainers who will be using these demos came over yesterday afternoon to go over them with me and suggest changes so that the demos reflect the training material more accurately. As we were working, he mentioned that he couldn't hear any of the mouse clicks or typing. I realized that I had the sound muted on my laptop, and turned it back on; as we discussed the importance of sound design in training demos, he wished aloud that there was a way to add a nice looping soundtrack to the demos.

I blinked. "But there is," I said. "And we can add voiceovers, too."

"Oh, cool!" he said. "The customer would LOVE that." And so I am now spending the next few days practicing my best Generic American Broadcaster accent and enunciating like Richard Burton for Dos Equis beer (Robin Williams reference) as I record voiceovers for the demo's text boxes.

Now if I could just get my nose to clear up...

Okay, things to be done today...
