It's GOOD to have a reasonable manager
I woke up this morning at 7:00 AM and checked the temps. 25 degrees F.
Then I looked out the window. Since we live in an aparment complex, our complex roads aren't treated with salt or sand. Everything was covered in ice, including the street. No cars were stirring, which is unusual for this time of morning. I've tried to get out of the garage before under conditions like this, and the results are not encouraging.
So I called my manager and said it appeared that I was icelocked. "Do you have enough work to keep you busy today? Then just stay home and work from there," she said cheerfully.
Which I did, and it was good. Luckily by the time Lyndon got up for work (he was running the bridge today, so unfortunately he had to be in there) the sun and wind were doing a bangup job of melting and evaporating the ice, so he got to work without incident. In the meantime, I have demos to do.

Nifty discoveries: Since Lottie is masquerading as an advice columnist, I realized it might be interesting to start off each chapter with a Q&A session between someone needing advice and Lottie's response. So far, she's dealt with someone madly in love with Jon Stewart, a lonely transplanted teenager looking for friends, and a new dad trying to deal with a wife with an Everquest II membership. It also makes for nice wordage when I don't know where to go with the story.
