*pinches bridge of nose, winces*

And not only because it feels like a leprechaun is shoving a shilleighlie into my right nostril. No, this particular wince is because of some contract work I tried to do today -- note the word "try." All the login information I was sent worked splendidly, which lulled me into a false sense of security until I tried to get into a Visual SourceSafe database to pick up the help files I needed to redo, only to find that the database name I was given is too long for the database field in the login window. Which means Mellie was unable to do any work today, which means that this will be a long and ugly week if I decide to deliver Thursday night as promised.

And yes, I'm still thinking that over. I am proud of my ability to produce deliverables on time, but when roadblocks keep getting thrown in my way through no fault of my own, I have to wonder if these deliverables are really as important as they'e claimed to be.

Oh, well -- emails were sent to the pertinent people, so hopefully we can get this all worked out tomorrow. In the meantime, 1,071 words were written today on UNDERCOVER GODMOTHER:

And I've gotten to a point where I realize I have no idea what girl cliques do these days to torment people they don't like (although there's a marvelous little cheerleader scandal going on in McKinney that's giving me some ideas). I suspect that the old school skillz of the lunch room snub, spreading unpleasant rumors and locking the target out of the social whirl are seriously out of date these days, particularly with the advent of the Internet and Photoshop. I may have to rent MEAN GIRLS and take notes. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the Bodacious Brit to finish up whatever he's doing in his office so that we can go out and get dinner (neither of us are up to cooking, and hell, I still need to celebrate being employed again).

After that, I may well tackle the Christmas tree. Pray for me.
