Workin' in a coal mine, goin' down down down...

The new job started today, with little fanfare but with great expectations. My new manager is nice, sane and loathe to micromanage, which suits me down to the ground, and I'll have plenty to keep me busy for the duration of the contract (initially four months, but it may well extend past that as they're already talking about other projects I could do).

The only thing -- why is baby poop brown such a popular color for offices? Especially ones that have no exterior windows -- have these people never heard of SADS? Lord, I'll need to bring in a lot of colorful stuff just to offset the monotony (although there's a chance I might get an office in a couple of months, which would be tres sweet).

And in celebration, I went out and dropped some money on new business casual clothes -- two satiny tops, ruby and teal, in a cut I can only call "Cossack Officer Blouse," a nice knit top in black and charcoal gray stripes, a tank/button down combo in a very pretty cream and metallic gold and a pair of black slacks. Very nice, and somewhat needed since I've spent the last four months in sweatpants, shorts and t-shirts.

I'm making money again. It's all good.
