And it's off
Seems like this is the night for sending off projects, she
said, looking at Liz Holliday and Kristine Smith. As for me, the novella is
through the third revision and is off to the publisher. Extreme and chocolate-covered
thanks go out to Berry Kercheval for his thorough copyediting catches and suggestions
on my faux French, William Ledbetter for his excellent commentary about communication
spells and Cindy Brown for making some very good points about military rank
and muscle groups in dancers versus fighters.
I had about 5.5 hours of sheer exuberance over getting this in the mail -- it's my first long manuscript that, barring any last-minute problems, will actually see print. Moreover, it proves to my satisfaction that I can finish a long work and make it all hang together (yes, WHITE KNIGHT, QUEEN ALICE is done, but it's so hacked up that the first edit will, in effect, be the first draft of the final plot). Which means that when I get UNDERCOVER GODMOTHER done and dusted, I'm hoping it'll also have a fairly decent shot at seeing the light of day in print.
