CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve in Pictures

After much thought, I realized that I couldn't adequately describe the events of today beyond "We ate, drank, told family stories, cheerfully insulted each other (Lyndon said later, "I'd be afraid to rag on my siblings like that for fear that they'd hurt me!") and played bowling on Stacy's Wii." So I thought I'd use pictures to save on a thousand words.

Stacy warming up for battle on the Wii. "You fool -- you dare not challenge the power of the MomStacy!"

Michael and Stacy engaged in Drunken Monkey Kung-Fu. And you wonder where I get it from.

Stacy triumphant. And perhaps just the tiniest bit tiddly.

"I do not care, for he is my beloved Visigoth. Besides, his sister cheats."

Cheryl (SIL) and the brother.

Believe it or not, Michael volunteered for this picture, and indeed came up with the idea for it. Stacy, of course, went along with it quite cheerfully.

My family, Gentle Reader. You've gotta love them.

"But I luuuuuuuve him, really, because he is big and soft and fuzzy and cuddly and I will call him George!"

They ARE cute, you know.

"Oh, yeah. Take a picture of me after I've been throwing up all day, why don't you? How about I go for distance, Auntie Mel?"

My niece Clara, wondering whether the mashed potatoes she had for dinner are going to stay down.

"No, I'm not manic, but neither did I expect you to spring out of the darkness and take my picture, Auntie Mel. Did you take ninja lessons from Mom or something?"

My nephew Mike, bearded but adorable. And to think I powdered his baby butt 21 years ago.

"Aw jeah, I got COOL SHIT for Christmas! I don't care what my siblings say about you when you're not here, Auntie Mel, you're the best!"

My nephew Tony, happily opening a new DVD.
