Yay -- I don't sound like a complete tit!

Um, what I mean is, I'm the featured interviewee on the first episode of the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show podcast, hosted by the talented and beauteous Maggie Bonham. The ep can be heard at http://skywarrior.libsyn.com/, or you can subscribe through iTunes.

And I actually sound halfway articulate. I'm gobsmacked, I am.

And the good stuff just doesn't stop. Thanks to a tip from Esther Friesner, I found out that a two-volume omnibus of all the Little Annie Fanny strips from Playboy has been released.

I had a bit of a complicated relationship with Playboy while I was growing up. My dad had a subscription during the LAF years, hiding the latest issue in his underwear drawer. I used to sneak in during the day when he was working and read all the stories, articles and cartoons (I may be the only person who's ever said that and meant it, but I was also about seven at the time -- pictures of naked ladies elicited a reaction of "Huh. Looks sorta weird. Whatever."). And yes, I was a precocious reader -- I was reading SLAUGHTERHOUSE-5 in second grade, and man, did that cause a fun teacher-parent meeting. But I digress.

Anyway, Dad came home early one day and caught me. He handled it really well -- asked me why I was reading the mag, and looked thoughtful when I explained I liked reading the stories. He finally said that it was okay for me to read it, as long as I didn't take it out of the room or leave it somewhere where the other kids could see it. From then on, I was free to indulge myself with Playboy's interviews, SF stories and, naturally, Little Annie Fanny, which I loved. I was way too young to understand the sexual content; I just liked the stuff she'd get into.

So when Esther mentioned that the strips had been published in book form, I immediately ran over to Amazon, and by gum, there they were. I should have both of them by next week and be revisiting my childhood in no time.
