Bless you, Douglas Adams

Even five years after his most untimely death, he's still inspiring as all hell. I'm in the middle of THE SALMON OF DOUBT, his last book, and it was something as simple as a chapter title that made me go, "Hmm...that's sort of a cool idea for a short story."

I love it when that happens.

And yes, I'm feeling better -- had a bit of a meltdown recent, hence the lack of posts, but things are on the up and up. I've contacted the client with the shopping cart, and we're going to find a web programmer who can set up the shopping cart (in fact, if any of you have experience doing this and would like to earn a little extra cash, feel free to email me). I've told another client that I'm cutting back on my contract work and wouldn't be able to do any more tech writing for his company, which was also nice. Suddenly, the impossible looks downright manageable.

It also helps that I've started working from home two days a week. I've heard this before and never put much stock in it, but it's true -- I DO get more done at home than when I'm in the office (and that's evem with the Boyz slinking around my ankles bugging me for attention and kitty treats). I suggested to my grand-manager that we all work from home, then meet in a Starbuck's when we have to do face-to-face stuff. She looked rather wistful at that.

I need to get a new office chair, though. This one is five years old, clawed from the cats, and there's little to no hydraulic action left in the base. Well, I have to go to Staples tonight anyway...
