On second thought...

Last night, I went in to Walgreen's to pick up my glucophage refill, which I'd called in earlier. When I got there, the pharmacist said, "That'll be $174, please."

When I stopped gurgling and asked her to doublecheck the scrip, she did -- turns out that my gyn ordered three months' worth of all three of my regular scrips (Synthroid, glucophage and Yasmin), with refills to be in three month intervals. Since I had the money, I shuddered, paid for the scrips and took them home, with plans to contact the pharmacy in three months and ask them to please increase the refill frequency to every month.

Then I found out that 15 states are trying to introduce bills that would let any random cashier refuse to accept payment for contraception if it went against their beliefs, and I decided, "Um, three months' worth of scrips in the hand is fine, thank you..." Although I probably wouldn't have problems getting contraception refills -- I live in an upper-middle class neighborhood stuffed chock-full of big-haired Power Moms who would burn the pharmacy to the ground if some mouthbreathing teenager tried to deny them birth control. This sort of asinine legislation is designed to hit poor and rural areas, where women don't have options other than the local pharmacy.

Hmm, wonder if maybe I could share out my Yasmin...

Meanwhile, on the writing side of things...

The wordcount on the novella:

I should actually be at the halfway point by now, but I did three thousand words today so I'm not going to complain -- with any luck I can catch up tomorrow. I suspect I'll have to do some backing and filling at some poing to better delineate a major character, but I'll worry about that tomorrow at Tara.
