Okay, not so close today

I actually wrote more that 189 words -- it was more like 697 words. However, I also incorporated a big chunk of outline, so that soaked up close to 500 words. And after unloading boxes and doing other menial labor for three hours today, I'm too damn tired to write any more at the moment.

Texans, did you vote today?

Today was Primary Election Day here in Texas, and hopefully all you nice intelligent people who don't view women as incubators, want kids to receive a decent public education and understand the need to raise the minimum wage in Texas hit the polls and took that first step towards kicking Gov. Goodhair, his yahoo neocon buddies and our rubberstamping U.S. Senators to the curb.

Normally I'd say just vote, no matter which party you belong to, but I'm afraid I can't do that in all good conscience this year. Please vote Democratic, even if you have to hold your nose to do it -- it's the only way we have to send a message to an administration that would rather play with its own agenda (which, unless I'm massively mistaken, seems to consist of reducing women to helpless uteri on legs, letting Homeland Security put a hold on your money if you do something subversive like, oh, pay off your credit card, ravaging our natural resources and funneling the proceeds to companies like Halliburton, destroying social support systems for the poor and sending more soliders to be killed in the Iraq civil war) than serve the people who elected it. For those who plan on voting Independent, I do understand your desire to vote your conscience, but please remember what happened when this was tried in 2000. Do you really want Bill Frist in the White House?

Turn Texas Blue in 2006!
