I'm not a masochist, honest
I finished the big climax scene today, and realized that there's one more chapter to go where everything gets wrapped up (you would not believe the problems I had getting my protagonists out of the museum without one of them getting sent directly to the station by his commander). Since my chapters are usually around 5K apiece, I figured it made sense to tack on another 5K to the counter. Yeah, it would've been wonderful to see it at 100% tonight, but ultimately it's not about hiting a specific word count (at least not in this stage) -- it's about finishing the story properly. A couple more days and I get to do the Moldavian Dance of Finishing the Manuscript, so it's all good.
In other writing news, my writing group took in some new members tonight, and we had our first long meeting (five stories on the table) in quite some time. We actually closed the restaurant where we meet, which was also a first. Once WKQA is finished and ready to settle for a couple of weeks, I really need to see about chunking out a couple of stories floating in the back of my head.
