I didn't quite manage to finish everything tonight, but I'm still happy with the output -- a couple more days, and it should all be wrapped up. I'm going to put it to one side while I finish up a pending project, then I'll probably spend most of April editing everything into shape. Ideally I want to start submitting it in May -- who knows, I may even be able to follow in the lovely and talented Kristine Smith's footsteps and sell my first novel before my 40th birthday.

Hey, I'm allowed to dream.

Yes, I did other things, too

I even got some shopping in and watched the Oscars. And yes, I enjoyed the show this year -- the jokes were, on the whole, pretty damn funny, and considering that Jon Stewart had already said he wouldn't be taking over the Oscars and turning it into a politico-fest he did a good job. And you gotta admit, that opening sequence was pee-in-your-pants hilarious.

Also, talk about shockers -- Philip Seymour Hoffman? "It's Hard to Be a Pimp?" "Crash?" Salma Hayek's electric blue Ace bandage? Damn, talk about blowing the odds out of the water -- although the gleeful little underdog imp inside likes seeing the deserving dark horses win the little gold guy. Best of all, Larry McMurty thanked booksellers in his speech. Go Larry!
