I like it when I can add little touches that make the villain less two-dimensional. My Russian art thief has just shown a room full of icons from privately held collections to Alice, waxing rhapsodic about their creation and how they were brought out to be touched and kissed by the faithful. These are the same icons that he plans to steal later that night. When she asks, rather pointedly, if he plans on donating them back to Orthodox churches, he shrugs and says that some of his customers may do just that, in order to salve their souls, and at least their sale will benefit one of the faithful (himself).
Heh. The criminal mind can be fun to write. It's so damn self-serving.
Feeling all poetical and shit
Observations On The Right
The difference between us
is that I see no reason
why you must follow in my path.
My actions are the product
of my own thought and choice.
They are not what everyone would think of,
or choose.
I understand that, and I accept it.
I accept that we are different,
that we think/believe/act
in different ways.
We are far apart
in how we view God,
or ourselves,
or our desires,
or the people we love,
or our joy in those people.
I wish you joy in your differences,
on your own choice of path,
and would never try to divert you from it,
to tug on your arm and say,
"Follow me or else. Follow me
because it is the One Truth,
the One Way. Follow me,
or you will pay with your freedom,
your happiness,
your life."
So.
Why is it so hard for you
to extend the same courtesy
to me?
