Return of the Coke Bottle Lenses
My glasses, knowing full well that I no longer have vision insurance, are falling apart at a rate of knots. First, I managed to scrape the edge of my laptop all the way down the left lens, leaving a marvelous little blurry streak right in my sightline. And today, one of the nosepieces fell onto my keyboard at work -- I don't just mean the pad, I mean the entire left nosepiece. I purchased some hi-tech glue that's supposed to work well on metal, and the glasses are currently on the counter with the nose piece propped into position while the glue sets and cures.
In
the meantime, I'm wearing my old glasses (thank Cthulhu I saved them -- and
damn, I think that picture dates from the little corporate apartment in Sweden).
The prescription is slightly different from my current set, and after wearing
my rimless supralight glasses for three years it feels like I have a piece
of Nautilus equipment sitting across the bridge of my nose, but hey, at least
I can see. Kinda.
Tomorrow, I'll be calling the optometrist for an appointment -- hopefully they still carry my current frames, because I really love them. And in the meantime, I'll just deal with the numbness in my nose and upper lip.
