A tip of the hat to Miss Julie
Julie Fortune, of course, otherwise known as Rachel Caine, otherwise known as The Woman Who Needeth Not Sleep. After hearing how she churned out 30 pages Sunday morning (30. Pages. Jesus, Allah and Zoroaster), I realized it really wasn't THAT hard to nail my ass to a chair and start writing the climax of WHITE KNIGHT, QUEEN ALICE. And so, my word count below:
97,089 / 100,000
(97.1%)
Good Lord. If I put some heat on it, I could actually have this frelling thing finished by the weekend (I say the weekend because some of this wordcount is actually detailed outline, which will have to be replaced as I go). At which point there will be much rejoicing, for I will have finally finished a novel. And then I have to start editing it, and that, my friends, is going to be one big scary bitch, seeing how many sea changes the damn thing went through over the years. Just straightening out two main characters' nationalities is going to be an adventure, not to mention all the subplots that either have to be excised or wrapped into each other. I've read through bits of it, and it is indeed a pile of poo. But much can be done with poo, as long as you're upwind and have a nice thick pair of gloves.
Holy mother of Cthulhu, I'm drenched
I went down to the weight room to do my Tuesday cardio, and it must have been Fitness Happy Hour because there were at least four other people in there working out on the equipment. Five sweaty people in a small, unairconditioned room with the door to the outside closed -- I've been in saunas that were more temperate.
As a result, thirty minutes on the reclining bike has left me absolutely drenched in sweat, and feeling rather good about it because it's an excellent way to get rid of retained body water (yes, I'm bloating again and I have no idea why). Unfortunately I saw pictures of myself from ConDFW over the weekend, and the double chin I'm sporting has to go, kids, no question about it. If thirty minutes of cardio in a warm room will help make progress towards that goal, I'm all for it, baybee.
