Puppies and kittens, puppies and kittens...
Hey Steve? I ran into your favorite Romanian's professional counterpart yesterday! What fun! Albatross! We must do lunch so I can tell you all about it.
So, Muslims are up in arms about the cartoons of Muhammed. I'm of two minds about this -- on one hand, I can fully understand their anger, since in their religion it's forbidden to create an image of the prophet. It's the same kind of ire that devout Christians showed over that tacky art exhibit with a crucifix submerged in a container of urine.
On the other hand, this shit was apparently stirred up on purpose by some go-getter imam who wanted to get some nice juicy anti-Western sentiment flowing (he's now "pleading" for cooler heads to prevail. Uh-huh). Even the Danish Muslims are saying, "Whoa, dude, we're pissed off, too, but you want to rank down the fatwa a couple of notches already?"
I mean, come on -- complain all you want, write nasty letters, give snarky interviews, set up websites bitching about the godless heathens and their sinful ways, whatever you like, but don't start threatening to kidnap and kill innocent Europeans because some cartoonists who aren't even Muslim drew some silly pictures. Show a sense of perspective already.
Although this does conjure up the idea of a cartoon where the big M, Jesus and George Washington are sitting around commiserating over how badly their followers have screwed things up...
