The interesting effect of flu virii

Much to my surprise, a rather pleasing story idea has dropped in its entire upon my tired and recovering little noggin (recovering as in I slept for 19 hours between 5:00 PM Friday afternoon and 6:00 PM Saturday afternoon -- add that to the dizziness, fatigue, muscle aches and other rather obvious symptoms, and it appears that I fell prey to a rather nasty 2-day flu bug making the rounds). I'm currently trying to puzzle out what sort of item/foodstuff/younameit residents of the Deep South states would deeply desire from Chicago's South Side -- once that occurs to me, and I can sit up without the room going "WHOOM...WHOOM...WHOOM" about me, I'll write it all down.

And once I'm finished with that one, I can finish another short story that has miraculously fixed itself while sitting in the back of my fevered subconscious. Apparently 19 hours of sleep are useful for more than just recharging the body -- who knew?

On the negative side of things , I got a ding from STRANGE HORIZONS on my Red Queen story -- actually got my hopes up on that one because it was getting towards the end of the usual month it takes them to reject something, but reject it they did. Oh, well -- time to hit Ralan and find another appropriate market for this puppy.

And that starts another week for me. Hope it's a halfway decent one.
