And it's off!

Finished the story, edited it down to shape, wrote a hilariously inappropriate cover letter (don't do this at home, kids -- you have to know the editor really well before you can congratulate her on being a stalwart supporter of the GOP), and now it's winging its way eastward to the waiting editor. That just leaves another short story, a novella and a novel to go. Whee.

Oh, and I do believe our week of Spring has come and gone in the great state of Texas. We're just starting to get the wildflowers (and granted, that's a beautiful show every year), but the temps are already up in the mid-80's, and it's supposed to get even hotter this weekend. So, in defiance of the fact that it's about to become God's Own Hair Dryer down here, I spent a most lovely lunch hour sitting outside, reading a book.

Granted, I was sitting on a grassy island in my building's parking lot, but it had trees and was quite pleasant and shady. And hey, I'm used to looking a bit odd to my coworkers (shut up, Steve).
