Hey Everybody!

Yes, I'm back. Sort of.

What happened was, the Peruvian Death Flu finally left, and was promptly replaced by a cold that feels like someone is jabbing a knitting needle into my right sinus. Obviously my immune system is making a break for it. But I'm also sick and tired of talking about being sick, so screw it, let's talk writing.

There's an interesting truth about being a writer -- you can be moping around without a sale in sight, feeling like a complete fraud and wondering whether actuary work mightn't have been the better course for you after all. And then, just as you start perusing the insurance textbooks at B&N, the universe drops all kinds of writing jobs in your lap, while your Muse swigs absinthe in the corner and sniggers at you. Take me, for instance -- within the last two weeks, my schedule has pretty much gone from zero to 60 MPH on the writing front. My short-short "It Takes Brains to Run a Con" has just come out in Yard Dog Press's newest book Flush Fiction: Stories to be Read in One Sitting. I currently have two editors waiting for stories, a novella (at right) that needs to be finished and polished so that it can be mated with another novella and turned into a Double Dog, the novel I finished a while ago desperately needs the editorial machete, and another novel needs to be prepped with a detailed outline as a proposal for a Certain Publisher (God, I love LiveJournal and the way I can find out about things).

Oh, and in addition to all this, I've also been working on a writing-related project that will be launched in July (details to be posted when it goes live). And all this stuff is completely separate from the slew of contract web work I've got on my plate, plus a potential new customer. And don't forget my day job. And the quilts I owe to various people. And that dollhouse I promised I would make for someone's daughter.

Suffice it to say that cloning is beginning to look like a good idea, and one suspects the trip to Seattle in two weeks will be deeply appreciated, not to mention badly needed.
