I'm back home -- and I even have my purse with me!

Which almost didn't happen, as I left it on the Alamo bus on my way back to the airport.

Let me explain -- I have three mental registers when it comes to carrying things. These registers are usually filled by 1) my keys, 2) my purse, and 3) a drink or something to eat. If all three registers are filled, I usually assume that I'm ready to go.

So when I got off the bus with 1) my overnight bag, 2) my laptop bag and 3) my fleece (which wouldn't fit into the overnight bag), my brain gave me a Go for Launch and completely overlooked the fact that I had a fourth item, which was left on the seat next to me. I discovered that I didn't have said item when I tried to check in -- after a fraught ten minutes of cursing loudly, running downstairs to try and call Alamo, then going back upstairs and outside to leap onboard the first Alamo bus I found and explain my situation, my original bus driver showed back up with my purse safely in his possession.

Phew. After that little emotional workout, I decided I REALLY needed a drink and headed off to the Admiral's Club for a rum and coke and time on their wireless router. The rest of the day was a lot better, really -- I drove back from Savanna, stopping in briefly to see Stacy and perform my ritual of doing something to her computer (bumped up the memory this time), and headed up to O'Hare early in order to score more time in the AC. Hahahahahahaha.

In any case, I'm home, I'm safe, and I'm about to drop from exhaustion as it's *checks clock* 1:45 AM. Later, taters.
