This is all Liz Williams' fault

There was a thread on what you can and cannot put on a scone in her SFF.Net newsgroup, and now I really really REALLY want scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.

I can actually get clotted cream over here if I go to Central Market for it (I once asked Lyndon what made clotted cream clotted. "Um, it's really stupid?" he wondered. Oh, my darling. . .), but the scones available around here aren't what I consider to be scones. They're usually lightly glazed with sugar, cut into triangles, and are a heck of a lot bigger than English scones.

I may just have to drag out the scone recipe tonight and bake some. Mmmm. . .

Poor Lyndon

Guess what? (Don't you love it when people start announcements with that? But I digress...)

After all that sturm und drang on Sunday, and his stress about arriving on Monday. . .they canceled the cut Monday night. So he came home tonight (after AirTran screwed up his flight AGAIN and booked him on the afternoon flight for Wednesday, not Tuesday -- thank Cthulhu, he was able to get that fixed at the airport. AirTran -- NEVER AGAIN).

Unfortunately, since the cut was cancelled, he'll probably have to go back out there at some point, but at least now he knows where the switch is, so he won't be trying to find it in the middle of the night. And he came home with a haircut, which made him look very young and dashing, so that was all good.

Of course, what with picking him up from the airport, taking him out for a very necessary meal, then taking him home to watch THE INCREDIBLES, I kinda forgot to make a very important phone call, so without further ado--

Happy Birthday Michael!

My little brother Michael has a birthday today (and if I'm remembering correctly, it should be his 34th birthday, as he's five years younger than me. Yes, that's how I remember how old he is -- deal with it, people).

Happy birthday, kiddo!
