Money in the mail is a Good Thing(TM)

As you know (Bob), while at ConDFW I found out from Selina Rosen that "Lurleen Terwilliger and the Swedish Bubba Balls" will be included in INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF BUBBAS, so that put a certain shine on the weekend.

Said shine was buffed up a couple of notches tonight when I opened a small envelope that had arrived in the mail, and found a check for $24 from Quantum Muse. It seems that they're somewhat behind in their bookkeeping, and while they paid me for a story I sold them in October 2003, they'd forgotten to pay me for a story I sold them in APRIL 2003 (it's an online zine, and the pay is only $10 so I didn't really think much about it when I didn't get paid).

The nice thing is, they also have a tip jar for every story, and I wound up getting tipped $14 for the story, or %140 of the actual sale amount. Someone out there likes my stuff -- whee! And since I did get paid for this, I decided to send them "Tides" (well, hell, it's a good story but nobody else seems to want it -- the worse QM can say is no). In the meantime, the check, plus some money I was given for knitting a friend one of those long slinky scarves of eyelash yarn, will cover the safety test for the Hoosiermobile nicely.

On the general malaise side, I'm still feeling washed out and am really looking forward to the weekend. The weird thing is that it comes and goes -- sometimes I'm okay, and then I'll stand up or try to do something, and I feel like I want to fall over and take a nice snooze in the middle of the corridor. Um, no.

It's times like this, though, that I remember how I have one of the best husbands in the world. Lyndon is being extremely sweet and sympathetic, and keeps offering to rub anything that's achy even though he's not feeling all that well himself. He's such a good boy.
