Aaaaand it's Monday

Bernard Hill -- *rrowl*Which is not as bad as it usually is, since I had a delightfully pleasant and relaxing weekend capped with a viewing of the extended version of Return of the King. Oh, Bernard -- *rrowl*.

But more about the beauteous Bernard another time -- the weekend itself primarily involved working on blocks for my niece's baby quilt. As you may remember from Friday's post, I'm using paper foundation piecing to create 2" flower blocks -- combined with matching stripping into 7" blocks, they're going to be set in a lattice made of this nice rose pink fabric with darker pink hearts and flowers on it, so I think I'll be calling this one "Hearts and Flowers." And so far, I have to say it's looking absolutely splendid.

When I wasn't quilting, I was doing some general tidying about the place, getting ALL the laundry finished (whee!), meeting up with the Nano group at Borders and talking about writing, crafts and other userful stuff for two hours on Sunday, spending quality time with the Bodacious Brit, and finally catching all of ROTK (we've had it since it was released, but I've never had four hours in a stretch where I could just sit down and watch it. I have to say, watching it with the commentary turned on is even more entertaining -- one rather wishes that Dom Monaghan and Billy Boyd would take their comedy act on the road).

In fact, the only bleak spot in the weekend was waking up on Saturday and hearing about Johnny Carson's death on the radio. He was a gentleman as well as a stellar comedian, and I'm afraid we won't see his like again.

Apart from that, though, it was a lovely, stress-free weekend, exactly what I needed, so now I'm ready to face the horrors of the week. And trust me, there WILL be horrors.
