A tad. . .humid. . .out there

Which is, of course, a tongue-in-cheek understatement, as the heavens opened on the way in to work today and poured down entire swimming pools on my poor car. We're talking bucketing down here, people; I was actually kinda worried that one low point on my route was going to be flooded. As it turned out, I was okay, but man, there's a lot of water out there.

It's times like this that I'm very happy I live in a second-floor apartment on the top of a hill, and even then the foliage on the west side of the building tends to flood in heavy storms. The weird thing about it is that we're supposed to be moving into an El Niño cycle, which usually means dry seasons -- so why is it pissing down outside?

Well, I know perfectly well why it's pissing down outside, but I have no control over whether or not we comply with the Kyoto Treaty (at least for the next four years). Bah.

And the real reason why I like doing arts and crafts

I always come up with story ideas when my hands are busy.

Got another one while working on the wall quilt today -- a sort of "justice is a dish best served cold" story set in Texas, dealing with a very old, very rich oilman, a gold-digging wife and two loyal employees. Need to start work on it tomorrow, methinks.
