CONDFW - DAY THREE
Sale!
Well, I'm back from ConDFW, which was thoroughly enjoyable, and I spent over $100 in books, but they're GOOD books (two Kage Bakers, two P.C. Casts, EATS, SHOOTS AND LEAVES and the British edition of A HAT FULL OF SKY) so it's all worth it.
I also found out from Selina that I'd sold "Lurleen Terwilliger and the Swedish Bubba-Balls" to Yard Dog for INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF BUBBAS, so that's a good thing (I also learned during my reading yesterday that switching back and forth between a Bubba accent, a Swedish accent and an Indian accent is not the easiest thing in the world). I now need to get cracking and finish my essay for the Farscape critical antho from Benbella (a Shakespearean analysis of family relationships in the series -- lots o' betrayal and drama there).
And I also need to nail my butt to a chair and finish my novella for the Double Dog -- it's due in two weeks, and it really needs a polish before it's ready to be released into the wide world. On the good side, the other half of the DD has already told the publishers that her story won't be ready, so if I need an extra day or two, I can probably swing it. I also need to round up the necessary models for the cover (I asked Selina if I could do the artwork, since I'm an attention ho, and she said I could submit some sketches, so Lyndon and I are going to take reference shots sometime in the next two weeks).
All in all, a very satisfying weekend, topped off with a not very interesting Academy Awards (although Beyonce's chandelier/necklace during "Learn to be Lonely" was extremely nice). And apparently I need to see MILLION DOLLAR BABY just to piss off Rush Limbaugh and Michael Medved. Works for me.
