And the test results are in

Thing the first -- my thyroid hormone levels are lower than they should be, so Dr. A's going to bump my Synthroid scrip up to .2 milligrams.

Thing the second -- my fasting glucose level was normal, as was my cholesterol level, so no diabetes or heart issues -- woohoo!

Thing the third -- my fasting insulin level is higher than normal. Combined with the irregular menses, PCOS is indicated, so I will start taking Metformin tonight, along with my new Synthroid scrip, and I go back in two weeks for another fasting blood pull to see if my insulin levels have responded.

This is a GOOD thing -- just with taking the Yasmin, I've noticed that my face is a lot clearer and, weirdly, my healing factor has improved dramatically (I could cut or scrape myself, and still see the wound months later.  In a single week since I've been taking progesterogen, a scrape on my thigh is almost gone -- whee!).  When I'm on the proper levels of thyroid hormone and my cells are resensitized to insulin, I should feel a HELL of a lot better.

Better living through chemistry, baby!
