There's nothing quite as nice as a competent phlebotomist

I went in this morning to get my fasting blood pull, and joked around with the very nice vampire who appreciated that fact that I'd just chugged down 20 oz of water to reinflate my veins, found a good one in my right arm and said, "If I ever take your blood again, remind me that the vein is right next to a tendon -- I DON'T want to stick you there."

Four hours later, all I have is a small red puncture mark -- no bruising or anything. She was GOOD. And believe me, I have reason to appreciate a good vampire -- I have really hard veins to find, and I've had huge bruises on my arms from various hunting excursions. Most blood pulls usually have to come from my hands, and once a nurse tried to draw blood four times, then finally gave up, saying, "I just don't want to hurt you anymore" and sent me along to the lab. A couple of hours later, it looked like I'd gotten my hand caught in a duck press. Not good. In any case , the results should be back on Monday, so I'll know what's happening by then.

In other news, it looks like Lyndon's been drafted back into his old responsibilities for the Three Blue Sausages, so he'll be traveling for the next couple of days working his mojo on recalcitrant switches. With any luck, he'll be back in time for ConDFW -- in the meantime, I've got to go into work tomorrow and learn how to do my own mojo on some systems, so we're both gonna be busy little campers.
