Why it is a good thing to have online checking
I received a letter a while ago from Domain Registry of America reminding me that melaniefletcher.com would be expiring soon, and would I like to renew it? I figured what the hell, and sent them a check for two years' renewal ($40).
Today, however, I got an email from DROA asking me to confirm transfer of the domain to namejuice.com. Um, NO -- why the hell would they be transferring my domain to another registrar? Then I read the email more closely -- Domain Registry of America is a RESELLER. Stupid me, I'd assumed they were associated with register.com, which is the registrar of both my sites (and just to explain my stupidity, I went through quite the merry dance with NetSol when they were shifting back and forth between various names, so I just assumed that register.com had changed names to DRoA).
Pissed off, I decided to log on and see if the check had cleared yet -- according to the Texans website, it hadn't, so I put a stop payment on the check. Which is good, except. . .there's a $30 fee for stopping checks, so I'm still out thirty bucks.
Grr. Just in case you ever get a letter from these yoyos and they AREN'T your registrar, don't send them any money.
And in more. . .interesting. . .news
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to get a couple of things checked out -- if this turns out to reveal something that I've suspected for awhile (no, nothing life-threatening), it will be something of a relief because while the condition is incurable, it's definitely treatable, and treatment should make me feel a heck of a lot better.
I mean, hell, I already have one incurable condition (hypothyroid with Hashimoto's Syndrome) -- another one isn't going to faze me at this point.
