My GOD, I feel good...
"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor -- shit. Someone stole my sneakers."
In an effort to get rid of some of the pudge and regain a sense of purpose, I started hitting the gym again on Wednesday. I did cardio Wedneday, then cardio and weights yesterday, and man, do I feel good. It's usually a pain in the ass to get myself started again, but once it happens the difference is amazing. Since I'm now taking glucophage, my muscles also seem to be reacting better to the exercise -- they don't *just* hurt anymore.
Best of all, I did 500 words on the novella last night and bathed JJ the Black Velvet Purrmonster (seen at left with his heterosexual lifemate and nemesis Jordan). Now, JJ's been bugging me to go outside (he's normally an indoor cat)-- when I do let him go on the balcony or front porch, he writhes on his back on the cold concrete, and afterwards the dander in his fur makes him look like he's been in a snowstorm. While at the store last night, I saw a bottle of cat shampoo with hairball controlling ingredients, so I decided to try it.
Came home, put a towel in the bottom of the tub for traction, grabbed the cat and the watering pot, popped the cat in the tub and soaked him with lukewarm water (he was NOT happy about that), washed him with the shampoo and rinsed him with the watering pot. He tried to make a break for it a couple of times, which means I have two small scratches and a couple of shallow punctures in my left arm (should've clipped his nails first), but he generally stood still for the process. He absolutely loves it when I soak a washcloth and wipe him down that way -- I think he just wasn't expecting the, um, ramping up of intensity here.
After I toweled him off and brushed him, he stalked off for a sulk, but decided to forgive me me a half hour later when he realized he DID feel better for it, and spent the rest of the evening sitting on the couch next to me and grooming himself. As of this morning, his fur was sleek and shiny, and there wasn't a spot of dander on him, so it's all good.
Next up -- bathing Jordan. This is gonna require steel gauntlets, I suspect.
