First, Birthday Wishes
Happy
18th birthday to my beloved nephew Mike (shown at left with my sister Stacy),
who, along with his brother Tony, are the closest I have to kids of my own.
I can't believe this hunka hunka burnin' adult was once a two-year-old who used
to run giggling around his grandmother's apartment. Damn, I'm getting old.
And you're legal to vote now, so that'll be one more vote for Kerry this fall (of COURSE he's going to vote Democratic -- we're from Chicago. It's in the genes).
And now, an AWWWW moment
Lyndon and I are in the habit of singing to each other. Nothing full-voiced or anything, just snippets of songs that have a particular meaning for us.
Since he left, he's been text messaging me little notes that say, "I love you" or "I miss you." This time, though, I got "Have I told you lately that I love you?" He always used to sing that to me, in a soft and sweet voice.
So I text messaged back, "Have I told you, there's no one else above you?" Hee. I do love him.
And finally, a medical update
Well, I'm not dead, although I kinda wish I could be comatose for awhile. I dragged through the day, feeling moderately better but not totally swell, and then I went to pick up the Man from McKinney from the airport (he's back for the weekend), and he batted his eyelashes until I agreed to go to Benihana's for dinner.
Oh, man, that was EXACTLY what I needed -- nutritious meat, veggies and rice. After two days of Zithromax and that lovely dinner, I'm feeling decidedly human again, to the point where I actually cleaned out our Wall O'Video, trashed all the stuff Lyndon had stored on the balcony and cleaned out the Receptacle of Concentrated Evil (i.e. the place where we store used cat litter). I'm hesitant to do more because I really don't want to push it and get sick all over again, but I must say I feel a heck of a lot better now.
Which means I can clean this weekend -- yay!
