Well, it looks like I'm going to be visiting Atlanta in the near future. . .

Mainly because Lyndon just accepted a telecoms contract job there, to start on Monday.

This has been in the works for a couple of weeks now -- I didn't want to say anything until we knew it was nailed down because I didn't want to jinx it or get anyone's hopes up in case it fell through. But it didn't, and he has his plane ticket for Monday morning and is currently researching hotels (he can't drive the Jeep there because it's just too decrepit, so he has to find a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the office. This is proving to be something of a challenge, but I have faith that something will shake loose).

In the meantime, part of me is looking at the salary and going, "WOOT!" Another part of me is thinking, "For up to nine months? In Atlanta? Oh, crap, not again. . ." But we've done this before, and we can do it again. Heck, this time it's even easier -- we're on the same continent, it's two hours away by plane, he's coming home every two or three weeks for long weekends, I'm going there at least a couple of times, and I'll get CUCMe working so that we can videochat (yes, Steve, I know, but he would need XP to use iChat and I don't know if he wants to bother with that).

I will miss him terribly (my eyes are still kinda puffy and stinging from crying last night, when he got the verbal offer), but it's a heck of an opportunity, will look good on his resume, and will do wonders for getting us out of debt. So I'll suck it up, smile and kiss him goodbye Monday morning, and pretend that he's just going on a string of business trips.

A long string of business trips.

In other news, I just got email from the editors of the Stargate: SG-1 critical anthology -- they thought my essay was a hoot, and they've already sent it in for payment, so I'm a happy camper. And I did another 500+ words on PHARAOH yesterday -- go me!

Who knows -- I may actually have this mother finished and in submitting shape by Worldcon. What a concept. . .
