The (slightly premature) Wearin' O' the Green

And a happy early St. Paddy's day to you, as well. Yes, I know it isn't until the 17th, but today's the day when everyone's holding the parade, don't you know, so I hope that someone out there is drinking me share of green beer, because Cthulhu knows I won't be drinking it.

I would have had corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for dinner in the tradition of me people, but I was struck down by a nasty Protestant cold, and have spent the afternoon and evening sloping about in me jammies, sipping Diet Coke with Lime (at least the packaging has green in it) and being kneaded by cats. Did you know that cats knead because it's their way of getting milk from their mum? If my cats think they're getting milk from me, they're great ijits. Optimistic ijits, but idjits nonetheless.

Okay, I can't keep that accent up at the best of times, and it's really hard when I've got a plugged up ear (stupid cold). Apart from said stupid cold, the day's been a good one -- I got the fuel system flushed on the Hoosiermobile so it's no longer shuddering like a dog passing peach pits, then I stopped off at two different Walmarts to pick up a new pair of clip-on sunglasses (while I try not to shop at Wallyworld, the second one is the ONLY place I've ever been able to find with clip-ons that fit my glasses) and some other necessities, including a new fanny pack. The one I use as a purse was purchased for me by a most thoughtful Bodacious Brit at the 2000 Worldcon (I'd been bitching about my old purse straining my shoulder), and has done yeoman duty. Still, when the vinyl starts to peel back, it's time to go find something else.

The rest of the evening has been spent chatting with Mike and Steve on iChat, napping, convincing Jordan not to climb on the shelf over my monitor and bat stuff down onto my keyboard, and watching TV. No, I didn't clean (although I did do laundry). Maybe tomorrow.

OH! By the way, I've implemented a new commenting tool here -- feel free to leave comments and help me test it (not that I'm hinting or anything. . .).
