Well, THAT'S a huge improvement

After spending most of Friday and Saturday with a painfully distended abdomen and feeling like I was nine months along, I finally popped a water pill Sunday morning. It's amazing what the judicious use of caffeine will produce -- the Flood is what initially comes to mind. As a result, my gut is way down, I'm back in my regular trousers and I don't hurt nearly as much all over. Hosanna!

I'm starting to think that Seasonale is sounding better and better all the time. I just don't handle periods that well.

And today, I was back in the gym for the second week in a row. At least my arms have stopped hurting, which is a big ol' plus, and I did 30 minutes and 10.34 miles on the recumbent bike for a grand total of 474 calories. Yeah!

What else? Well, lessee, my car (which has been hitching and idling heavy since Wednesday) started hitching in earnest tonight. This kinda scared me because, barring some serious driving out of the way by coworkers, the Hoosiermobile is my only way into work and I really don't have the dosh for serious repairs at the moment.

So I got home and popped the hood (take THAT, Volvo!) to see if I could spot anything obviously wrong. . .and promptly discovered a sticker on my engine head that says I need to have the fuel system cleaned by 10/21/03 or 61322 miles. Well, lessee, I'm 4.5 months and 4K past that little deadline, which probably explains why the car is shaking like a dog passing peach pits.

What sent me screaming up the stairs is, I just had the car tuned up in December, and nobody at the dealership thought to mention this to me (although they made sure to tell me that I needed to get my front brakes redone, and they could do it for just $170 dollars. Yeah, thanks, guys). I'm taking it into Jiffy Lube on Friday for the cleaning -- the money I'm getting from my web client should just about cover the cost, and at least I know the job will be done correctly there.

Yes, I'm cranky -- see the first two paragraphs of this entry.

Oh, and I've added a new blog to my Other Cool Journals page -- now that Steve is in Toronto on his contract job (hi, pupcake!), he's finally been lured to the blogging side of the Force and is now the proud new author of Take Off! My Life and Times in Toronto, the journal of a US economic refugee's adventures in the Great White North (and Tim Horton's).

And if you live in TO and see someone tooling around in a blue Golf with Texas plates, do wave at him. Just make sure you're out of his direct path first.
